This is by far my favourite time during the holiday season. The planning stage. The prep. I spend my evenings combing Pinterest for recipes to try. All the cookies. All the ideas. RIght now. at this very minute. I'm excited about it all. I can't wait. I have a list as long as my arm of things I want to make and share. Come December 22nd-ish.... I will be all over it. Exhausted from shopping and the inevitable sugar crash...But right now. Right this minute. This is the best.
So since this a "mostly" vegetarian blog, I thought I would share with you some of our favourite side dishes. These are vegetarian side dishes that will work so very nicely next to the holiday turkey or roast beast.
Whether or not you have a vegetarian in the family (hello!) or some of you are just trying to eat a little less, a little less rich, a little less meat, or whatever... try something a little bit different this year.
One of the reasons I'm a happy vegetarian is because I like vegetables. Go figure.
So in preparation of Thanksgiving next week (for my American friends) and Christmas which is just around the corner, here are 8 vegetarian side dishes that would make me absolutely giddy to see at the holiday table. And they will please the rest of the crowd too. The holiday feast is all about the side dishes anyway.
Miso Glazed Brussel Sprouts Mashed Rutabaga with Nutmeg
Goat Cheese and Roasted Onion Tart
Whole Wheat Couscous with Roasted Pumpkin
Cauliflower Gratin with Tomatoes
Savoy Slaw with Chardonnay Vinaigrette
